Article Processing Charges (APCs)

At the International Journal of Digital Research (IJDR), we are committed to making high-quality academic research freely accessible to a global audience. As an independent, self-sustained journal, we operate without external funding or institutional sponsorship. Our mission is to spread knowledge in the digital medium, ensuring that groundbreaking research reaches scholars, practitioners, and the public without barriers.

When and How Much?

  • No Submission Fees: Submitting an article to IJDR is completely free. You only incur costs if your article is accepted for publication.
  • APC Amount: The APC for publishing in IJDR is 35 USD. No hidden fees. This fee is payable only after your manuscript has been approved for publication. If your article is not accepted, you owe nothing.

Payment Methods

Once your article is accepted, you will receive detailed instructions on how to pay the APC. We accept payments via Debit/Credit card, PayPal, and Revolut. If you encounter any issues, our team is here to assist you.

How Is the APC Used?

The APC is allocated to cover only the essential technical services and expenses:

Every dollar is allocated to essential technical services, ensuring authors’ work is published ethically and sustainably. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

      • Automated screening to uphold academic integrity through Strike Plagiarism

    2. Basic Machine-Based Language Check ($7)

      • Grammar and readability checks through Grammarly.

      • Note: This is not a substitute for professional editing. Authors are encouraged to self-edit or seek pre-submission help.

    3. Website Hosting, Domain, SSL, & Tech Support ($7)

      • Reliable, secure hosting with HTTPS encryption.

      • Includes domain renewal (ijdr.net) and basic maintenance.

      • Sustainability note: We use cost-effective, open-source solutions to minimize expenses.

    4. CrossRef DOI Registration & Taxes ($7)

      • Unique DOI assignment via CrossRef for permanent citability.

      • Covers CrossRef annual membership fees (split across articles) and applicable state taxes.

      • Did you know? Most journals charge 5–10x more for DOI services.

    5. Text Editing, Uploading, & Repository Deposits ($7)

      • Formatting your manuscript to meet journal standards.

      • Archiving in Zenodo and other repositories for long-term preservation.

      • Powered by volunteers: Uploads and deposits are managed by our editorial team.

Why Do We Charge APCs?

  • Sustainability: IJDR is a non-profit initiative driven by a mission to advance digital research. The small Article Processing Charge (APC) we collect is solely used to cover the technical expenses of maintaining our platform, ensuring rigorous peer review, and providing long-term archiving and indexing of published articles.
  • Open Access: By charging APCs, we can offer all published articles in full open access, meaning anyone, anywhere, can read, download, and share your work without cost.
  • Voluntary Contributions: Our editorial board and reviewers generously volunteer their time and expertise. They are not paid, as their work is driven by a shared dedication to science and academic progress.

Waivers and Discounts

We understand that financial constraints can be a barrier for some researchers. To support inclusivity, we offer partial or full APC waivers on a case-by-case basis, particularly for authors from low- and middle-income countries or those facing financial hardship. If you believe you qualify for a waiver, please contact us at [editor@ijdr.net] with a brief explanation of your circumstances.

Our Commitment

IJDR is not driven by profit. For us, this journal is a mission – a mission to spread high-quality knowledge, support academic progress, and foster innovation in the digital age. By charging a small APC, we ensure the sustainability of our operations while remaining true to our core values of accessibility, integrity, and excellence.
