The International Journal of Digital Research (IJDR) is pleased to announce the publication of a new review article in Volume 2, Issue 3 (2026).
“The Egalitarian Framework of Prophetic Society: A Socio-Legal Analysis of Women’s Agency and Progressive Modernity in Early Islam” by Shamsa Rehna explores women’s legal, social, and economic agency during the Prophetic era (610-632 CE) through a comprehensive socio-legal review of historical Islamic sources.
The article examines seven fundamental dimensions of female agency, including financial sovereignty, marital autonomy, judicial access, domestic governance, and post-marital transitions. It also compares the Prophetic legal framework with Western legal traditions, discusses contemporary family law in several Muslim-majority countries, and proposes an educational framework for Generation Beta.
As a review article, the study contributes to ongoing discussions in Islamic studies, gender studies, and socio-legal research by revisiting historical sources and highlighting their relevance to contemporary debates on gender, education, and social development.
