The article explores the development of viticulture and wine production in the Plovdiv region, focusing on spatial organization, production structures, and their role in regional and rural economic development. It provides valuable insights into the integration between viticulture and winemaking, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
This study contributes to the broader understanding of agribusiness dynamics in Bulgaria and highlights the importance of vineyard production for regional sustainability and labor markets.
The article is part of a Special Section dedicated to “Rural Regions and Rural Development”, featuring selected contributions from an academic seminar held at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
